FF: His Patronus

Sorry, I couldn't help but post this on here! This is probably my favorite thing I've ever written. Not saying it's good or anything; it's just my favorite. It's a fanfiction of Harry Potter (& the Deathly Hallows) Er, it takes place right after Snape finds out Lily had died (which isn't in the books, it describes it sorta in the chapter The Prince's Tale, though.) Anyways, this story basically flooded out of me. Couldn't help writing it, couldn't help posting it. :) AND I'M POSTING IT ON HERE FOR YOU TO READ, SAM AND EMILY! EVEN THOUGH YOU WON'T READ IT! :( Heh!

characters (c) Jo Rowling
text (c) MEE!

Severus Snape looked around at the remains of the Potter household. Crumpled and destroyed, it sat defeated in Godrics Hollow. Nobody was to touch it, he had heard that it was going to be left in it it's ruined state as a memorial. Would people look upon this grave and remember the Potters? Or would they be only thinking of (and fearing) the Dark Lord? As for Snape, all he could think about was the one who died in this house. Not Harry and certainly not James, but Lily. Lily Evans.
He begged. He begged the Dark Lord to have mercy on her, but she did not receive any. How often had he heard the Dark Lord reassuring him that those who help him, he will be merciful and kind to? He had not kept his promise. Lily Evans was dead. Dead. He just couldn't believe it. A tear fell down Severus's cheek and landed soundlessly on the floor. Dead.
He remembered those times as kids. Watching her on the playground, swinging blissfully with her sister. He remembered her long, dark red hair, flowing swiftly in the wind, nearly flag-like, only just touching the ground if she leaned back too far. Her Muggle sister, Petunia, was nothing in comparison. Not by looks, and not by talents.
He remembered the forest, and the stream, telling Lily all he knew about magic- about dementors, the Ministry, Azkaban and about Hogwarts school. He'd never seen her so fascinated, so curious and talkative. He could have spent forever there, just simply talking to her and watching her. How did he become so lucky as to have Lily Evans in his life?
As he remembered, that luck was short lived. Complications arose as soon as school had started. Severus, although he knew he would be even before he arrived at school, was Sorted to Slytherin and Lily was sorted to Gryffindor. He thought that Lily would fit into any school, really. She had the brains and wit to be in Ravenclaw, the nerve and courage to be in Gryffindor (although, he had really hoped she'd be Sorted into any other school besides this one), she had the loyalty to be in Hufflepuff and she was cunning and ambitious, as to be in Slytherin. She wasn't a pure-blooded wizard, though. That was the only reason, Severus had thought, that she wasn't placed in Slytherin along with him.
Being in two different schools set up an whole new realm of complications. They had different classes and completely friends. But the biggest complication of them all would be the rivalry between Slytherin and Gryffindor. Severus knew Lily was constantly being badgered on why she even talked to him, let alone, shared friendship. He as well, was often was teased.
"Can't make friends in this school, is that why you talking to a Gryffindor?"
"I bet she only talks to you because she pities you."
"She is out of your league, you stupid git, even if she is from Gryffindor."
But worst of all, "Severus, why do you waist your time talking to that stupid Mudblood?"
He was the one that reassured her that she would not be judged, would not be looked down upon, if she wasn't pureblood. If Lily found out that he was wrong, or if she accused him of lying, Severus didn't know what he would do. He did not want to lose Lily as a friend.
But of course, his worst fears came true as time passed. Severus made mistakes, mistakes that cost their friendship. But he never gave up on her. A day never passed when Lily had not entered his mind. He watched her from afar, watched her grow even further away from him and even closer to that James Potter. He never liked James Potter much to begin with, but now he felt nothing but uncontrollable resentment. He hated how he was the school's hero, winning Quidditch games right and left. He hated how arrogantly he strode down the hallways, head held high like he owned the place. He hated how he saved his life from the Whomping Willow, and how he managed to sweep Lily off her feet. He absolutely hated him for marrying Lily, for taking her, and he even felt a pang of resentment towards the child that they bore together. It wasn't fair how James swooped in and took the life Severus only dreamed about.
And it certainly wasn't fair that now Lily Evans was dead.
It wasn't fair that now he'd never see her laughing face, the way the sunlight filtered in through the trees and lit her hair up, as if it was on fire, like soft, cheerful candle flames. He tried hard not to think of her eyes. Her warm, green eyes. They would never ensnare him ever again.
There were days, before her death, that he would think about clearing his mind completely of Lily. Some days, he'd get as close to holding his wand to his head, only needing to mutter a single word: 'Obliverate.' But he couldn't do it. Now that she had passed and moved on to a world, he was glad he hadn't. He couldn't bear the thought of not having her in his life, even as memories. He would always need her in his life, even though she wasn't alive herself.
He was glad Voldemort had been defeated. It was her and her son who ultimately defeated him. If Voldemort hadn't died, Severus would be sure to make it his life goal to kill him. Dumbledore had made Severus a spy for him previously, so he wasn't new to Voldemort's tricks of trade. If by some miracle he had survived, and Severus desperately wished he hadn't, Severus and Dumbledore would create a plan to defeat him once and for all. For Lily.
Cold, aching sadness filled Severus. He could not spend anymore time here; or else he'd lose his mind. He couldn't-he refused to- accept the fact that Lily was gone; actually gone, never to walk the earth again. He couldn't control the stream of fresh tears that fell from his eyes. It was like losing her all over again. First, losing her to Potter, and secondly, losing her to death. He wasn't sure which was worst.
Slowly, he withdrew his wand from his pocket. From inside his head, he saw Lily's smile. Her bright green eyes lighting up as it spread across her face. The sadness consumed Severus once again. She's gone, he had to keep reminding himself, you'll never see her do that ever again.
He squeezed his eyes shut, a tear emanating from the corner of his eye. "Expecto patronus," he whispered, the words hardly passing his lips.
From the tip of his wand, a great silver doe sprang onto the soft turf. It leaped a few yards and then looked back. Severus couldn't take it anymore- he dropped to his knees, defeated.
"Lily…"
The doe paused for a minute, glowing brilliantly. Severus knelt there, tears streaming down his cheeks. He wanted to die. He wanted it all to end. He wanted to be with Lily again, and if death was the price, he would pay it.
At last, the doe turned back around and leaped gracefully through the forest, and just as Lily; was gone.

Book Reccomendations.

I'm bored. I had somewhat of a crappy day today, and I find that reading helps me escape my problems. Lots of others feel the same way. Henceforth, I'm making this book recommendation list! So, if you ever run out of things to read, I'm sure you'll find something from this list entertaining. Also, I LOVE books that let me escape into a different world. I hate those stupid teeny-crap books about boyfriends and high school drama. I already get enough of it as it is. So, most of this list is fiction and fantasy, because it PWNS all.

Not necessarilyy in order, but my favorites reign towards the top.

1. The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins. (The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, Mockingjay.)
2. Harry Potter series by JK Rowling. If you've never read these books, you haven't LIVED.
3. The Percy Jackson Series by Rick Riordan. A bit childish, like, probably a middle school reading range, but, great books. You've just gotta love the characters.
4. The Maximum Ride novels by James Patterson. Well, hmm. These books aren't exactly written the best, but, they're very entertaining. These books are good for someone in 7th, 8th or 9th grade. Basically, these kids are delinquents, so they don't use the best language and act like, well, kids. Most likely, you'll be able to relate to one or more character in this book. Also, the word "freaking" is continually used in context in this series.
5. Unwind by Neal Shusterman. This book is amazing! Although, it's for mostly older kids.
6. The Darkest Powers trilogy by Kelley Armstrong (The Summoning, the Awakening, the Reckoning.) Mostly for mature girls, who like to read about supernatural romances and stuff. Has to do with ghosts, werewolves and witches. It's a great read, though.
7. Graceling by Kristin Cashore. ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITE BOOKS! A must-read for any girl. I lovelovelove it! I've read it more times than Twi-hearts have read Twilight, I'm sure.
8.East by Edith Pattou. This book is amazing. It combines old legends and a romance into a book that any girl would love to read. It's not overly fluffy, and it has lots of adventure.
9. Impossible by Nancy Werblin. Based on a song, the Scarbourough Fair, it's a romance that'll appeal to many teen girl readers. It's also one of my favorites. Heck, I would say Graceling, East and Impossible all fall into the same category. Sort of the same light, romance-y thing goin on, but including action and adventure. It's great!
10. If I Stay by Gayle Forman. This is one of the saddest books I've ever read!

Hmm, all I can think of from the top of my head. I'll be sure to add on as I read more!

HARRY POTTER!!

HAHAHHA! Harry Potter meets his puppet pal! ;DD
Yes, I know PPP Harry is missing his arms. Get over it.
Drawing (c) Me
Harry Potter (c) JK Rowling
Potter Puppet Pals (c) Neil Cecierega, youtube

DOOD. Don't you just LOVE Harry Potter? I'm not even kidding. I just wanna marry him. Well, not really, but you get it. Anyways, I'm (re)reading the books, and I JUST LOVE THEM! Like, more than life! Although, it's a little slow in the beginning. But oh well. Plus, I just love how it's in England. I want to go to the UK SOO FREAKING BAD. I wish I had a British accent. :P

Anyways, I just love how many other Harry Potter things there are out there. Like, there's Potter Puppet pals on Youtube (refrenced in picture!), there's a Very Potter Musical (which I've only seen parts of), there's a crap-load of merchindice you can buy including: wands, horcruxes, spellbooks, shirts (which I have!), time-turners, Liquid Luck necklaces, jackets, scarves and fleeces. Also, who doesn't want to go to Harry Potter world in Flordia?!

Dood, I just read the part in the Deathy Hallows where it explains Lily and James' death from Voldy's point of view. I BAWLED MY FREAKING EYES OUT. So sad! Ugh. I feel like a noob. :)

I guess I'm just an a tad over-obsessed. Hah!

OCTO REPARUM!
WINGARDIAN LEVIOSIA!
CRUCIO!
IMPERIO!
ADAVA KEDEVRA!
(I did those from memory, just so ya know! :))

Black Friday

NEVER AGAIN am I going shopping on Black Friday. First of all, who wants to wake up super early just to buy stuff? Like, okay, there's good deals and all, but is it really worth getting up super freaking early for? Not to mention, the lines. Half the time your waiting in line and there's annoying people behind you, or kids running around the store with bouncy balls, or angry psycho-mums picking fights with other angry psycho-mums. And then, the cashier people are just ridiculous, and they're machines break down and they don't how what the heck to do. But seriously. I'd rather just purchase the item for full price! But, I did get the Half-Blood Prince for only 13 dollars, so that was a good deal. ;D

And the stores this year decided to open even earlier. Toys R Us opened at 10 and Walmart opened at 12. I was at Walmart at 12, and it basically was a mad house. Everyone was sleep deprived and grumpy. And it's like people are 'on a mission.' It's kind of amusing to watch them speed walk through the stores. Of course, that's pointless because then they have to wait in line for a year or two.

I finally made it home at 5:30 this morning, and I headed straight to bed, only to wake up at 1 something or other. And now, I have a helluva headache and I'm freaking exhausted. So yeah, I'm defiantly NOT doing that again next year.

Tik Tok- The Hunger Games style! ;D

READ IT AND WEEP... tears of joy. ;D

Tik Tok- The Hunger Games style

Wake up in the morning next to my sister Prim
Fathers gone, died in the mines, I gotta live without him.
Today’s the Reaping, Prim’s names is called, I gotta take her place
And pretty soon all of Panem is gonna know my face

I’m talking this years the 74th Games, Games
My clothes are engulfed in flames, flames
Everyone knows our names, names
To the Capitol here we go, go
Gonna meet President Snow, Snow
Getting ready to go start this show.

(chorus)
We’re in the Games, goin insane
Clove and Cato after me
Won’t give up, no matter what
Tryin’ to dodge the Capitol mutts
In the Games, gatherin’ fame
But the Capitol won’t stop, no

Ain’t got a care in the world, ‘cept for the boy with the bread
Gotta keep him safe from Careers so he won’t end up dead
And now his leg is cut up, he might have blood poisoning
Cato’s really gonna get it, we’re gonna win this thing

I’m talking tracker-jackers everywhere, where
Fireballs singed my hair, hair
These Games aren’t even fair, fair.
Eatin dried plumb and lamb stew, stew
Marvel just killed Rue, Rue
Marvel just killed Rue
Marvel just killed Rue.

We’re in the Games, goin insane
Clove and Cato after me
Won’t give up, no matter what
Tryin’ to dodge the Capitol mutts
In the Games, gatherin’ fame
But the Capitol won’t stop, no

I braid my hair
And grab my bow
Snow's stooped too low
Yeah, he has now
Nightlock in my hand,
We’ve got it now
You hear that sound?
We're rebelling now

I braid my hair
And grab my bow
Snow's stooped too low
Yeah, he has now.

I raise my bow up
Raise my bow up
Raise my bow up

Now the Games won’t stop until we win.

We’re in the Games, goin insane
Clove and Cato after me
Won’t give up, no matter what
Tryin’ to dodge the Capitol mutts
In the Games, gatherin’ fame
But the Capitol won’t stop, no
We’re in the Games, goin insane
Clove and Cato after me
Won’t give up, no matter what
Tryin’ to dodge the Capitol mutts
In the Games, gatherin’ fame
But the Capitol won’t stop, no

This is the result of a girl and her sister who just had a birthday and are a bit sleep-deprived. ;D HOPE YOU ENJOY! Music tune or whatever belongs to Ke$ha. Characters/settings and what not belong to the author of the book, Suzanne Collins. Butttttt, I came up with everything else. I haven't looked at other parodies of this song, so any simillarities are coincidental. Also, if you use this anywhere else, make sure you credit me.

KTHANKSBYE.

GO LISTEN TO THIS SONG. LIKE, RIGHT NOW. OR YOU'LL DIE.

S'all I have to say for now.

BIRTHDAY.

Today is a very important day. Why? Because it's my birthday, that's why! xD Anyways, I don't have school this week at all, because well, I'm not even sure why. So I'm at home, doing nothing, on my birthday. But, I already celebrated by watching the new Harry Potter movie yesterday. Oh, DOBBY. *sobs* Hah, anyways, I have a whole list of things to do, but I'm procrastinating on the computer. Sad. Today my to-do list consists of: Clean my room, practice piano (I have recital coming up soon!), finish reading the HP series and I have to write. I REALLY NEED TO WRITE. It's number one on my list, but like I said, I'm procrastinating. See, I fail.

OH WELL. I'm going to get on it, because everything I had to say in this blog just flew out of my head.

Fanggg. xD

FANG! :DD
Picture (c) by me, yo.

Haha, ya like that, do you?! xDD Well, I'm extremely bored. I have no idea why I added that picture ^^ to this blog. Hah. I'm just so dang bored. Anyhoo, that's Fang. From the Maximum Ride novels by James Patterson. Yes, those are wings! He's 2% avian, dontcha know? Bahh, this is kind of an old photo, when I was still trying to develop my style, so it's a little weird looking. I'm better at drawing now. I drew this while I was waiting for my piano lessons! So it took approximately 30-45 minutes. I'd say that's kinda good, considering I didn't use a reference or ANYTHING. That's straight from my mind, yo. I like it at least. Nobody said you had to! :P Anyways, a little bit about this guy; Fang is about 14 years old. Like I said, he's 2% avian (which is bird, for you guys who don't know what the word avian means). When he was a baby, he somehow ended up at this place called the School that tests on people, trying to make them better. Like, we'd all live a lot longer if we had some tortoise DNA in us. Or, we'd be able to breathe underwater if we had some fish DNA. Anyways, that's what happened to him, and 5 others--Max, Angel, Nudge, the Gasman and Iggy. Basically, Fang is an emo bird-kid. Well, personally, I wouldn't say emo. The author, James Patterson, always tries to play him off as emo, but he doesn't act like it. He doesn't go in his room, turn up the screamo/emo music and hurt himself. Nooooo. He just... I dunno, lives? Normally. Well, as normal as a kid with bird wings can. Anyways, he's awesome. Until the last book of the series (well, the last book that came out). Then, he's just stupid. Why? BECAUSE HE LEAVES. Him and Max (Max is a girl, by the way. Maximum Ride) had a 'thing' and he pulls an Eddy-C, thinks it'd be safer and better for Max if he leaves, and he just goes, only leaving behind a note. A freaking note! Not to mention, it's the cheesiest, stupid, most ridiculous note in the whole world. If somebody left me a note saying what Fang said in his, I'd roundhouse kick them in the face. It was... ugh! Infuriating. I'd post it, but you might vomit when you read it. Next time your at the bookstore, go pick up a copy of FANG by James Patterson, skip to the end and read the letter he wrote. It's so out of character it's not even funny. Like, oh yeah, Fangs the bad boy emo kid, whose quiet and can kill someone with a punch, but he goes and leaves a sappy letter. You know what, I'm going to post the cheesiest part, so you know what I'm talking about. Here it is, oh, and I do not own this. This excerpt belongs to (c) James Patterson, from the book FANG: A Maximum Ride novel:

"I love you. I love your smile, your snarl, your grin, your face when you're sleeping. I love your hair streaming out behind you as we fly, with the sunlight making it shine, if it doesn't have too much mud or blood in it. I love seeing your wings spreading out, white and brown and tan and speckled, and the tiny down feathers right at the top of your shoulders. I love your eyes, whether they're cold and calculating or suspicious or laughing and warm, like when your looking at me." (307)

Goodness! You might wanna clean that puke of your keyboard, huh? I mean, wow. Would you expect that from an emo bird kid, or freaking Romeo? Actually, Romeo is better than that. Romeo and Juliet is actually romantic. This? This looks like it should be on freaking Disneychannel!  First of all, need I remind you, Fang is only 14. No 14 year old loves like that, regardless if they have avian DNA in them or not. It's just not like, possible. Secondly, how romantic is that? "if it doesn't have too much mud or blood in it." Yeah, I'd find that offensive. It's so ridiculous it's not even funny. It's very frustrating.

But, he's still pretty awesome. I mean, in the first 5 books, he's great. He's funny and doesn't give a crap what anyone or anybody thinks. Well, except for Max. He's not one of those Eddy-C, Gary Sue characters that can do anything and are so romantic and everybody just looooves them. Well, never mind. I take that back. Basically everybody whose read MaxRide loves Fang. But it's not like your telling your boyfriend to act like Fang, like those twi-hearts out there. "Boyfriend, you need to start acting more like Edward Cullen, or else I'm breaking up with you!" Hah, well, you know what I mean. But he is one of those characters you can't help but like. Like Percy Jackson. Gotta love him. And Ron Weasley. Gotta love Ron Weasley. And Peeta Mellark! Actually, Peeta is in a whole different category of awesomeness. Not gonna lie. Peeta is just plain epic. But this is supposed to be a blog about Fang, not Peeta or Ron or Percy, so yeah. Whenever I write blogs like this, I feel like I have like, ADD or something (and I'm NOT dissing anybody with ADD. One of my good friends has ADD, so yeah). But I'll be talking about something, then quickly think about something else and have to write that down. This blog is mainly an organized version of my thoughts. I write what I'm thinking as I go, which is basically why they're jumbled all the time. And it's not like anybody reads this, so it's s'all good!

YOOOO. So, guess who just made a livejournal? This girlllll! Yeah yeah! Why? Because I keep hearing about it, and because one of my friends wanted me to make one. So I did. It'll probably be the same as this blog. Heck, it'll probably be exactly like this blog; with the same posts and everything. Oh wellll! FF: It's Too Late

HEYYY. So, in my previous post, I was ranting about cliches. As a side note on the end, I said how I once wrote a fanfiction that sort of put love-triangle cliche from The Hunger Games to rest. And I'm posting it here, for you enjoyment if you want to read it. Also, if you want a taste of my writing, go ahead and read. But before I get started, let me just say that I don't own any characters. They belong to Suzanne Collins. This fanfiction takes place in Mockingjay, which at the time I wrote this, hadn't came out yet. So I didn't know if something like this would happen in the book or not. It didn't... but still. And if you haven't read the books; this might be a little confusing so I'll sum it up in a nutshell: Peeta and Gale are both in love with Katniss. There's basically a war going on and Peeta, Gale and Katniss are all on the same side, opposing President Snow and the Capitol. The three of them are on a mission to invade the Capitol (in my fanfiction, not in Mockingjay) and bomb the Capitol building, but they aren't able to escape in time.

So here it is! Again, I don't own any characters, nor do I own the song Katniss sings to Peeta in this:

BAM! My world fills with black as I am thrown backwards. Screams penetrate the air, and the scent of explosives and smoke fill my nostrils. I land onto something hard and sharp, and I can feel the warm blood trickle down my skull.
My thoughts instantly take me back in time. Each new memory brings more throbbing to my already pounding head.
"Remember, stealings punishable by death." Katniss says in a small voice. She looks up at me, her features so young… so helpless. Her gray eyes, wide with excitement and curiosity. My Catnip.
Her lips. Her soft lips against mine. "I had to do that. Just once."
Posy and Vick, tugging on my Mother's skirt. "Mommy, whens daddy coming home?"
The memories pool up behind my eyelids. I've heard stories on how people's lives flash before their eyes as they're dying. Is this what's happening to me? Am I dying?
"PEETA!" a voice screams, shattering the stream of my memories. It's Katniss. I await my name to be called but it never does.
She called his name. Not mine.
I will myself to open my eyes. Splotches of random colors dance across my sight. Smoke is everywhere. Small fires are lit here and there, and there's no sign of President Snow.
The smoke eventually clears up a little bit but patches of bright green and yellow disrupt my vision. I can just barely make out a darkened figure through the ashy debris.
"Katniss?" my voice is hardly audible. "Katniss?"
My head and my heart are pounding, but I have to get to her. It takes several tries to get my legs working again, and by now I've lost so much blood I feel dizzy. I'm so discombobulated. I clumsily approach Katniss to see her kneeling down next to some burnt, mutilated object on the ground.
It's Peeta Mellark.
His singed hair adds a new scent for me to take in. Mellark's face is bloody and I can't make out anything on it besides his two bright blue eyes, which are now damp and full of pain. Even after seeing him this weak, possibly on his death bed, I still feel no sympathy towards him.
"Catnip?" I whisper. My anger towards her instantly vanishes. Her being so desperate melts my angry bravado. She's never desperate. She's always been so strong. Besides, my head aches too much to even be worth getting angry. "Catnip?" I whisper again. She doesn't look back, can she hear me? I notice that she has one of Mellark's hands in hers.
"I'm so sorry," she says quietly, her voice is so close to tears. I'm not sure if she's talking to me or Mellark. I put my hand on her shoulder, but she doesn't notice. She's ignoring me. Doesn't care. Her attention is fully on Mellark and I'm just a minor thing that can be dealt with later.
Isn't that how it's always been? It's always been about Peeta, ever since after the first Hunger Games. It's useless to think about what could have been. What could have been before the Hunger Games. Before I was her 'cousin'. Before Peeta Mellark took everything away from me. I'm reminded of how much I actually loathe him. I hate him for taking Katniss like this, and I hate myself for not doing enough about it.
Quietly, a small sound squeaks out of his remains. "Kat…niss?"
"Peeta?" she squeezes his hand harder. "Peeta!"
Mellark says something back, but I'm not able to catch it. My grip on Katniss's shoulder is all I have left to hang on to as the world spins around me.
Katniss sniffles. She brushes the singed hair out from his face. His blue eyes close, and I wonder if they're closing forever.
She begins, "Deep in the meadow, under the willow. A bed of grass, a soft green pillow. Lay down your head, and close your sleepy eyes. And when again they open, the sun will rise"
The song. I recognize the song. It's the same one she sang to that little girl in the 74th Hunger Games. Her voice cracks and falls and it's like she's whispering the words rather than singing them.
"Here it's safe, here it's warm. Here the daisies guard you from every harm. Here your dreams are sweet and tomorrow brings them true. Here is the place where I love you. Deep in the meadow, hidden far away. A cloak of leaves, a moonbeam ray. Forget your woes and let your troubles lay. And when again it's morning, they'll wash away.
"Here it's safe, here it's warm. Here the daisies guard you from every harm Here your dreams are sweet and tomorrow brings them true. Here is the place where I love you."
Where I love you.
My legs give out and I drop to the floor behind her. Hadn't I'd known this all along? I'd been a fool to deny it for so long. She loves Mellark. Katniss loves Mellark. She doesn't love me. I don't know if she ever has.
"Peeta," her voice shakes.
There's a trace of a smile on Mellark's ash-ridden face. "love…you, Katniss... always," I watch as he goes limp.
Katniss begins to sob, and I'm surprised to feel tears on my face too. Not because the death of Peeta, not because of Katniss's pain, but because I know now that there is no future for me. I feel like knives are being crammed into my skull as well as my heart. With Mellark gone, she'll never be the same. She'll live in depression and remorse, until her own life is taken as well. I know her, and that's what she'll do.  My heart paces, speeds up until it's the only sound that fills my ears. A metallic taste fills my mouth. This is it. Mellark won't be the only one dead. This is it for me as well.
"Catnip." I mutter quietly. My goodbyes are on my lips but I can't say them. My world floats in and out of focus and I have no choice but to leave her completely alone in the remains of the Capitol.

Oohhhh, betcha didn't see that one coming, now did you Katniss?! Anyways, yeah. There's a sample of my writing, and it had to sort of do with my last post about cliches. I hope you enjoyed reading that, even though you probably didn't understand since you haven't read the book. Again, I wrote all of that, besides the song she sings. Every other idea was mine, and no, Mockingjay didn't end like that. *SPOILER* Katniss ended up with Peeta.

Also, if you wanna read some more of my fanfictions, I have a fanfiction profile thing. www.fanfiction.net/~bigcitylights. Read them if you wish!

Rant: cliches

You know what I can't stand? You know what drives me absolutely freaking insane? CLICHES. THAT'S what drive me insane. I can't even go to the movie theaters anymore, because every single movie out there has the same exact plot. So there's the two people, a male and a female. They're best friends, right? So the female starts dating this guy, and the best friend is all heart broken and stuff because he 'loves her' and it hurts him to see the one he loves with another man. And as the plot continues (but doesn't thicken), the guy the girl was dating does something bad like say, cheat on her (tell me you haven't heard THAT one before!) And the guy friend finds out, but doesn't tell his best friend because he doesn't want to see her hurt or something. So when the girl and the guy she was dating finally break up because she found out that he was two-timing her, she's upset at her best friend for not telling her, and in the end, they are together and he uses some cheesy line like, "you belong with me," or after they kiss, he says, "you have no idea how long I've been waiting for that." YADA YADA. It sounds so familiar, right? How many times have you seen that plot? I'll name a few movies down: The Switch, Maid of Honor (Similar plot. But I still love that movie on the sole reason that Patrick Dempsey's in it), 13 Going on 30, Sky High (kids movie) well, basically any disneychannel movie/any Hallmark movie. Sure some people suck those lame, flimsy plot-lines up through a straw, but I do not. I hate them. So much, in fact, that I have just walked away from the movie. I think the worst thing about those movies is when as the best guy friend is confessing his love for the girl and he tells her he loves her. It makes me nauseous just thinking about it, because it's so cliche, and I don't believe life works that way. If it's worked that way for you, then congrats. But you know what I mean.

Or, I hate the cliche where there's two polar opposites, and they met, hate each other, then eventually fall in love. Examples of that would be: The Proposal, Twilight, Life As We Know It, The Notebook (don't get me wrong, I LOVE that movie), Shrek, Wall-E, basically any classic disney movie (Beauty and the Beast, Hercules, The Little Mermaid, etc. But I love those movies as well. There's something about those movies that aren't as... cliche.)

BUTTTTTT, every once in a while I'll stumble upon a movie where that's not the plot line at all. It'll be something totally different, and I just loveee the director/screenwriter for doing it. A few examples of these movies would be: The Outsiders (originally based on a book, yes, but still), Megamind (YESS! Just saw this one XD), 50 First Dates, and Avatar.

To tell you the truth, I had a hard time coming up with those movies. I'm more of a book person. So, here's a few butt-kicking books that have freaking awesome not cliche plots: The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins (hehe!), Unwind by Neal Shusterman, Graceling by Kristin Cashore, East by Edith Pattou, HARRY POTTER by J.K Rowling and Watership Down by Richard Adams (I mean, how cliche can you get when the book is about rabbits?!)

Anyways, I think I got my point across. For any of you future authors/screenwriters/directors out there, think of something original. Or at least change it up a little bit. I don't want to be reading a book/watching a movie and thinking that I've seen this all many, many times before.

:)

Ohhh, by the way. I wrote a fanfiction on The Hunger Games that I thought sort of goes with this posting. I'll post it later for you to read. It's based on a love triangle cliche, like The Hunger Games has (but THG has a GOOD love triangle. Nothing like Twilight.) Who will Katniss end up with, Gale or Peeta? How 'bout neither? I'll post it once I'm done posting this.

Lataaa hataaas.

Mockingjay Review

Yay! Second post! Now I warned you before about my little (okay, MAJOR) obsession with the Hunger Games, right? Yes, I think I did. So basically, the last book in the trilogy came out last month, and I finished it for the second time (I told you I was obsessed!). At first to be honest, I didn't like it. No, scratch that. I HATED it. And I was very upset at the author, Suzanne Collins, for writing those certain events in it. Before I start, let me say that if your a THG fan and haven't yet finished Mockingjay, then I'd stop reading this post. SPOILERS AHEAD! Don't say I didn't warn you.

Okay, let's get started. So basically, the first time I read it, I chucked the book across the room. If you've read it, you know what I'm talking about. It's like, the author gets us so freaking attached to all these characters, then she kills them off. Gone. Dead. Dunzo. Personally, Prim's death was the hardest on me, because I could relate to that whole Katniss/Prim situation. I mean, Collin's already had her little girl death in the original The Hunger Games (RUE!), she didn't need to kill Prim off too. And the fact that it was the Rebel side that did it. Ugh. I was so appalled. And don't even get me started on Finnick's death. OH Finnick! I'm going to miss that  guy. :(
I've always suspected that Cinna was a rebel. Don't get me wrong, Cinna is my all time favorite character. I LOVE CINNA. I always thought he had a nice little family back in District 13, who missed him so dearly those months he was gone trying to become a stylist in the Capitol. You could just... tell. If you were paying attention. I mean, the fire outfit for opening ceremony? It's so symbolic! He's starting the wildfire that will eventually burn out the Capitol. I can't believe President Snow didn't realize that. I realized it from nearly the beginning. And when he turned the wedding dress into a Mockingjay. How could you even argue that Cinna wasn't a rebel? I was so disappointed how he didn't make his reappearance in the last book. I thought he'd come back as a Avox, or at least be alive for a little longer. Guess not. And that sucked.
But what can you expect? It's a war story. I have to keep reminding myself that. War=fighting. Death. Fatalities. I was just upset at who they were. Oh, and do not get me started on hijacked Peeta. That was the most upsetting thing ever. Hands down. When I read their reunion for the first time, I didn't understand at first. I reread it so many times just to make sense of it. Once I did understand it, I couldn't believe it. But isn't it so like President Snow to do that? To ruin him beyond repair. It reminds me of that quote from New Moon, "Love gives you the power to break somebody. And I've been broken beyond repair." (Sorry, don't know what page that's on or anything. I just remembered that from the top of my head. I just know it's in New Moon and Bella said it.) It's so true in Mockingjay. I just want to slap Katniss for not realizing she loved him before. Now look what happened. It hardly brings relief to know the epilogue of the story, because I can't get hijacked Peeta out of my head.
I mean, how many of you were literally depressed after reading Mockingjay? I know I was. Like I said before, you get so attached to these characters. It's like your best friend died, or your boyfriend (or girlfriend) lost his (or her) sanity or something. I was basically a walking zombie afterwards. In fact, months later, I'm still processing what went down. Still, I sit in class and wonder about it. Daydream, so to speak. That's when you know the author did their part. When people get so emotional over the book, and mull it over in their heads over and over and over. Collin's most defiantly succeeded with that. That book made me laugh, and cry, and just.. goodness. It was so amazing.
What about the epilogue? Hm. Well, I have to say I think Collin's went all J.K Rowling there. It was sort of... gah. The whole end of the book upset me. It felt really rushed. Like, she just couldn't wait for it to be over, kind of. It's like, so Katniss is being punished, she gets out, goes back to District 12, her life sucks, Peeta comes back, then the end. I wanted to know more. And to me, it didn't seem like Katniss was too heartbroken about Prim's death. Sure, she mentions it and stuff, but if my sister-- the one I volunteered for so she wouldn't have to go in the Games, the only person I loved unconditionally-- died, I'd be completely broken. I'd probably, I dunno, go crazy or die or something. I wouldn't take it... lightly. I'd want to see more of Katniss's thoughts at the end. And in the epilogue, I'd at least want to know their children's names. Who are they like, Peeta or Katniss? I mean, personality-wise. I actually wrote a fanfiction on it, so if you'd like to read it, just comment me saying so.

And again, for those of you who haven't read it. GO READ IT NOW. Do not pick up another book, unless it's black and has a gold Mockingjay pin on it, and has the words 'THE HUNGER GAMES' on it, written in white letters. It's so worth reading.

And for those of you who have read the series before. Drop a line. I'd love to discuss anything with you!

HEY GUYS!

Yay, first blog! Er, so basically, I'm going to start a blog. I'm not sure who's going to read it; if your someone I know, or just some random stranger; welcome!

So basically, this blog will basically be book reviews, random rants, ideas, anything that's happened to me that's worth blogging about. Although I have to warn you, it may just be a rant-blog, but in that case, I'm sure you can relate.  Maybe I'll upload a fanfiction of mine or two. Just because I can. :D

Okay, let's start out with a little basic information. My name is Jade. I love to write and I love to read. I read a lot. I mean, A LOT. Mostly YA books though. My all time favorite book would be the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. If you haven't read it, I HIGHLY suggest it, whatever age you are. It honestly has something for everyone. It's just simply amazing! Yeah, I might be talking about that book a lot in this blog. Which is good, I guess, for those Hunger Games fans out there. And if your not a fan yet, go read it. Right now. Drop everything, regardless of what your doing and drive yourself down to a bookstore, because your missing out on an incredible book.

Where was I? Oh yeah. A bit about me. Well, I play the piano. I'm a huge Brandi Carlile fan. Her music is the greatest. I also like Taylor Swift, which I'm listening to her music now, as a matter of fact. Her new CD, Speak Now is just excellent. Um, I have two cats and four dogs. I like to draw, although it's a new hobby I have. I'm a livid coffee/tea drinker and fried chicken is my favorite food. And that's about it, I guess. Anyways, I hope I didn't bore you to tears with this blog so far. I'm sure it'll get better as I go along. Yell at me if it doesn't.

Toodles!
